A Change from the past

Ingersoll Gender Center has been serving our community for thirty years and a holiday celebration for the Transgender community has long been a part of the Ingersoll tradition. In 2006, Ingersoll joined the Seattle LGBT Center and put on a bigger and better even than it had ever before. It was an event that said: We’re here, were, proud and confident, with a lot to celebrate and a lot to offer and the whole community is invited. That was the first year that we branded our winter celebration “SnowBall”. This year we are changing the formula a bit and making SnowBall dress-up dance event/ball… a Snow Ball.

Puddletown Squares, Seattle’s square dance club for Gays, Lesbians,

and their friends will be having a Community Square Dance with caller

Susan Morris, December 29th at West Seattle Tibbets Methodist Church,

3940 41st Ave SW, from 7–9:30pm. $10 dollars at the door.

The Community Dance Program is a big change from the type of square

dancing that Puddletown Squares usually does, in that dancers can

come when they can and learn everything they need to dance that

evening. The caller calls squares, mixers, circle dances, traditional

dances, contras, trios, and mecolanzas. The dances are easily learned

and always walked through before dancing them.

Square dancing is fun for all ages and is a great alternative to the

bars for the gay community. Longtime dancer and treasurer of

Puddletown Squares, Ross Crawshaw-Lopton says, "Square Dancing is one

of the few events in our community where not only do men and women

have fun together, but they bring their kids and their parents and

their straight friends!"

For more information on this event, please contact Jonica at jkeel @

comcast.net. More information about Puddletown Squares can be found

at http://www.iagsdc.org/puddletown/
